Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Learn how to use FreeChemDraw and its supported features

Here are some frequently asked questions about FreeChemDraw, covering structure recognition, file export, reaction editing, and more.

Are image files and other data used during creation stored on the server?

1. Structure Drawing and Editing
All structure drawing, editing, PNG/SVG export, SMILES copying, and MOL file download functions are processed entirely within your browser. No data is uploaded to or stored on the server, and no network communication occurs during this process.

2. Compound Search
When using the compound search feature, entered CAS numbers or compound names are sent to our partner site (https://www.chemtradehub.com/) for structure matching. This information is not stored on our server. Only necessary network access logs are recorded.

3. Image Recognition
Uploaded or pasted images are temporarily transmitted to the server for structure recognition processing. Regardless of the recognition result, the image data is deleted immediately after processing and is not permanently stored. Only basic access logs related to network communication are retained.

Can FreeChemDraw directly paste SMILES or MOL files?

Yes. Simply paste the SMILES text or MOL file content into the editor, and the chemical structure will appear automatically.

How does FreeChemDraw recognize structure images?

You can upload a local image or paste it directly into the image area at the top-right corner. Click “Recognize” and the system will automatically convert it into an editable structure.

What export formats does FreeChemDraw support?

You can export MOL files, SMILES text, and high-quality PNG or SVG images — ideal for papers, reports, and presentations.

Can I draw chemical reactions in FreeChemDraw?

Yes. FreeChemDraw supports reaction arrows, multi-molecule reactions, labeling of reactants and products, and RNX file import/export.

Is FreeChemDraw’s structure recognition accurate?

Yes. Our recognition model is trained on extensive chemical data and achieves over 98% accuracy for common organic structures.

Do I need to register or log in to use FreeChemDraw?

No. FreeChemDraw is a completely free online tool — just open the website and start using it instantly.
